My name is Dani Cucchiara, and I’m honored to run for District 3 Head Steward (Chair) at CAPS-UAW Local 1115. As a U.S. Army Veteran and toxicologist at the Department of Toxic Substances Control, I work to protect California’s ecosystems from chemical harm—and I believe our workplaces deserve the same vigilance.
I came from Florida, a Right to Work state, where I was laid off twice in one year. It was devastating. In California, I discovered the power of collective action: that workers can stand together to demand fairness, dignity, and protection. That realization changed everything.
Since joining CAPS-UAW, I’ve served on the Catalyst Committee and the UAW Region 6 Just Transition Committee, rallied at the Capitol, and fought for equity as part of the Contract Action Team. These experiences have deepened my commitment to bold, transparent leadership rooted in solidarity.
I’m running to ensure every state scientist is heard, respected, and empowered. As Head Steward, I’ll lead with integrity, stay connected to our members, and fight relentlessly for the rights and protections we all deserve—not just to survive, but to thrive.
