Hello, I am Theresa Engle, running for the Bylaws and Constitution Committee with the Scientists for a Democratic Union (SDU) slate. I joined CAPS in 2022 while working at Caltrans, when our MOU had been expired for nearly two years and negotiations were stalled. That experience pushed me to organize—connecting with colleagues, phone-banking, supporting petitions, and advocating with political candidates.

I’m proud that our collective efforts helped secure a contract in 2024. I continue to show up for our members, including helping deliver the petition opposing the RTO mandate.I believe in persistence, creativity, and solidarity. 

I am running to help grow our membership, foster engagement, and help develop strategies that inspire participation in worker led movements and achieve supermajority participation. Together, we are stronger—and I ask for your vote to help build our union for the work ahead.
