Ahmed Najar for CAPS-UAW Constitution & Bylaws Committee Member

I’m Ahmed Najar, a Research Scientist at CDPH, and I’m running because I think our union should work as well as we do.

Lately, many of us have been asking the same questions:

Why does career growth feel unclear? Why do opportunities feel uneven? And why does the answer sometimes depend on who you know instead of what you know?

As scientists, we believe in data, transparency, and merit. Our workplace—and our union—should reflect that.

I want us to build a workplace where:

  • Opportunities are fair and visible
  • Information is accurate
  • And people can grow without politics getting in the way

Also, let’s be honest—if we can troubleshoot instruments and complex datasets, we can definitely organize ourselves to improve our workplace.

I’m running as a member of the Scientists for a Democratic Union slate to make CAPS the catalyst for an engaged, transparent, and effective workplace for all of us.
