Hi my name is Mar-y-sol Pasquiers (she/her), and I’m excited to be a candidate running for the District 3 Head Steward (Recording Secretary). I’m a scientist at the Department of public health where I work as an injury epidemiologist helping to make sure our communities stay safe and healthy.

I’ve been a proud member of our union since I first started as a state scientist and I’ve been an active and involved member since about 2023 when I began organizing at my department. I previously served on our Membership and Communications Committee, Contract Action Team and Member Action Committee. Currently, I help lead our new employee union orientation team at the department and help to support our members. If you are at my department, you’ve probably seen me at our solidarity breaks where I promised to run for an elected position and here it is!  Through all of this time I have met and worked with amazing organizers and hope to continue organizing with all of you to make our union even stronger.

My vision for our union is one where we all have the education and tools to be active and involved in owning our union. This means meeting people where they are at with what they know about organizing. By teaching people the skills they need to organize and providing time and opportunities to practice those skills we can continue to build our capacity as a member-led union. Through bringing all our coworkers together to defend our rights and fight for more we can become an even stronger movement. I would be honored to serve you as an elected representative.
