I’m Liz Reece, and it’s my honor to be running for Trustee for CAPS-UAW Local 1115. I am an environmental scientist at the State Water Board in the Division of Water Quality, where I work in wetland regulation. I have been employed by the state for 6 years, and have been actively involved in our union for the entirety of my state service. I was a member of the Contract Action Team during our prolonged contract fight and walked the picket line every day of our historic strike in 2023. I have provided training for members about their contract rights as well as supported members in contract enforcement. I am a proud member of the CalEPA Organizing Committee, and you may recognize me from tabling with fellow organizers in the CalEPA Headquarters Lobby (if you see me, come say “hi!”). 

I believe that the strength of our union is the direct result of the strength of our membership. Our members stand up not only for the safety and welfare of the people and resources of the state of California, but for ourselves and our coworkers. Collectively, we have the power to effect positive and tangible change. I commit to acting with transparency and making decisions that will serve the best interests of our entire membership.
