My name is Eli Scott and I’m a Senior Environmental Scientist, Specialist at the North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board, serving the state of California for nearly 9 years. I have been involved in political organizing since long before my career with State service, including direct political outreach campaigns for State and Federal environmental legislation. My strong skills in organizing made answering the call to get involved in our fight for workplace rights and pay parity an easy and natural move. Since getting involved in our campaign for our historic 2023 strike and the lead up to our 2024 MOU I have been engaged in member representation, supporting members with grievances, investigatory interviews, and working within the District 5 organizing committee to organize our members in fighting for our rights. My day-to-day work takes me up the I-5 corridor on a monthly basis to Yreka, allowing for a unique opportunity to organize and agitate our CAPS-UAW siblings in the Sacramento Valley.
I’m running for D5 head steward because I believe in a strong, militant labor movement that extends beyond just CAPS-UAW and strives for international worker solidarity. Our strength is in every one of us showing up where we can, how we can, and, most importantly, UNITED. I would be honored and humbled to have your vote and be given the opportunity to serve my fellow scientists.
