Fellow members! Let’s cut to the chase. I’m running for Rank-and-File Unit Member-at-Large to assist and mentor our membership in the militant enforcement of our hard won contract. Make no mistake, a vote for the SDU slate is a vote against the arbitrary rule of a runaway employer.
I come to state service with almost 15 years of federal union involvement. I’ve been a member, steward, committee person, communications manager, and elected officer- ultimately serving as executive board VP in the final year of my federal career.
As a federal union representative, I was given a special assignment to help union members in Florida who were experiencing the widespread racial fallout of a first term Donald J. Trump. Our team organized the locals and broke the will of the entire Florida management structure, ultimately proving that 2 individuals were targeted for termination based on race and race alone. We demanded change and minority protection statewide - and we received both.
Over the past year, I’ve served our membership as both a representative and committee person. I contributed to creating our current union structure by serving in the catalyst committee. I’ve fought and won against obstinate HRs that have refused to grant reasonable accommodations because of Newsom’s ridiculous RTO mandate. I’ve represented members in both termination and failed probation cases. I’ve assisted members in filing 5 grievances, a CalOSHA complaint, and one unfair practice charge (and counting) - relying on the power of organizing to set things right.
If elected, I will continue to fight by motivating and inspiring our membership to stand-up, organize, and use our greatest weapon- Solidarity. Loud solidarity.
A vote for the SDU slate is a vote for victory!
